Not sounding so good!..but these are prototypes:

Theoretically, Darkiths unit will provide gun sounds and IR, and this will provide engine sounds. All from an HL board?? For those on a limited budget this may be a good plug and play solution.

but does that sound like a mayback ? and what does its turret turning / startup / shutoff sounds sound like ?

not putting it down but all it seems like is a tweaked amplifier ....

cheers,

If there turret upgrade is anything to go by, this will be pretty good at a great price. We can't expect the world for cheapo prices, but for those that want proportional sounds that are an improvement on the HL set up, this 'could' be good. It isn't advertised on their site so at this moment I have no idea what it does, or how it works.

I have dropped them an email, and when I have more details I will post them on here.

There is no way we are going to get a Tamiya/Elmod quality sound system, but I for one would be happy with what I see here...but we will have to wait and see.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=diLXemJf32Q You have got to be kidding this has got to be the worst effort ever put into a sound unit you have actually made it sound like a scooter with a cracked down pipe, Robie came out with a sound unit for model boats about 30 years ago this is still available for around £15 which incidentally sounds exactly like this excuse for a bad attempt I did read that they want $85 plus the postage, do me a favor better still get down to Maplins you can buy a kit that will do the same thing for a fraction of the cost that way when you are disappointed with yourself for buying rubbish you wont feel to bad throwing it in the bin, I actually think the Heng Long sound system sounds far better it may not be completely proportional but at least it's taken from a real tank and not an annoying electric pulse

Well this is what CD have just sent me:

Shipping is free anywhere in the world. price is $85.00 dollars(speaker included). i cant begin to describe how cool this thing is. it really is hard to capture the sound on video but indoors it will shake the floor.we are making hook up as easy as possible. I hope we can have it up on the website soon for sale. we are waiting on a few more parts. I really like the forum, its just done right!! the speaker isn't housed in a box. its basicly bolted over the rear grill on one side. the smoker has to removed and you'll need two 9.6 volt battery packs, but they are quite small compared to stock hl so its not a big issue. charging the 9.6 batteries is a snap. the power is relay controlled and you just drop your stock battery cover and plug in. the relay  module is hooked into the smoker wire leads, so as soon as your tank goes through its normal start up sound, the thunder one kicks in. this thing is so much fun!! everytime you hit full throttle its like a  adreniline rush!! the system is designed to fit in between the gear boxes, but it can be mounted wherever there is room. for smaller models like the panzer 4, and pIII, and bulldog the battery box may have to get cut out. its a small price to pay considering the end results. this thing is really really fun!!!!

So...maybe it will suit some and not others, it's another manufacturer coming up with another option, and that is no bad thing. Not everyone can afford, or wants, a super expensive sound solution, nor do they have the means to hook up parts from Maplins or anywhere else for that matter?

..and was the HL sound taken from a real tank? Which one?, I never knew that.

If anyone has installed the £15 Maplins solution can they post it on here. I would love to know how it is done, and what it sounds like, is the speaker is included? and all of the instructions to hook it up to an HL board? Is it programmable eg Could I record my own sounds on to it. Tell us more, we would all like to know.

hi ,the hl soundcard i taken from a sherman, ie tamiya, i must agree with rivet with the sound, it does sound like a single cylinder with a cracked header pipe  ;D, but if you were doing a tiger 1 with a blown engine firing on one pot running on diesel instead of petrol then this is the sound card for you  ;D
all the best, ice
on second thoughts lets not go to Camelot ,it is a silly place

well me personally am 50/50 on this one at least someone has started looking into the sounds yes it doesnt sound like a tiger even my wife asked what the hell is that  ::) ::)

but if your into nascar topfuellers running on tracks then this might be for you

to me it sounds more like a blown v8 running a breath of nitrous

the way forward to me would be a board with re movable and uploadable sound files via a memory card which could interchange with a henlong board or tamiya dmd
