Max's 1/6 Blitzkrieg Armor Hetzer Project
Re: Max's 1/6 Blitzkrieg Armor Hetzer Project
Made a bit more progress, now we wait 24 hours for the adhesive to cure and I'm estimating we'll be road testing again by Saturday.

I really don't know what wellspring gives you the energy, still less the determination to overcome these engineering challenges, Gary; but if anything's certain : you'll see this through. You have a touch of the Tesla obsessive there, with a decidedly European heritage.

Almost ready for road testing, and the sound is looking good. This is a little longer than my usual video, but that's because it's really several segments all in one. I kept taking video as i worked but I didn't want to stop working on the tank to download so the videos just kinda piled up in the camera. By the time I finally got it to the PC there were about 7 videos all stacked up so I threw them all in movie maker and here's what came out.
I got the tracks back on and as soon as I post this I'm off to see how she runs.

Great work and very interesting to see the various construction phases. Thank you.

NB. The 1/6 size of this hetzer makes it physically similar in size to a 1/8 Tiger! Just a casual observation.

OK, got her outdoors again. The tracks still suck so I have work to do there, but all together she seems to be progressing nicely.

Even Gandalf won't be much help if that Sherman runs into a Tiger.
I've got the lower pretty much buttoned up. I still need a bit of adjustment in the chain, but the roadwheels are firmly fixed and the tires are holding up well. That loctite 410 is some sticky stuff. These tracks will be replaced as soon as possible, and until then I'm going to start on the upper, most likely with the lighting. The rear convoy light is made of a solid chunk of metal, so I may scratchbuild on and put LEDs in there. I also have to do the Notek light in the front, and the LED flash in the remote MG34. Not to mention smoke and the main gun.
Still lots to do.

Quite literally thought of this:Max-U52 wrote:Even Gandalf won't be much help if that Sherman runs into a tiger
Today in Normandy in 1944 while the battle raged to break out of the D-day beachhead, Lieutenant John Gorman rammed a mighty King Tiger with his outgunned Sherman tank. He was able to knock out this, the most potent WW2 tank.

Got a start on the details. Some things have to be added in order, like the engine grill has to go on before the exhaust, etc. Next will be getting the remote MG34 going, and then I have to figure out the paintball cannon. That may be a task. Still haven't found a suitable paintball pistol. I may just install the main gun static for the moment, but I'd really rather have paintball right from the start. Then about all that will be left is the smoker and I can really get started on the details. I don't foresee any trouble with the smoke unit, I just have to get to work.
Anyway, here's a couple videos that stacked up in the camera so I just strung them together.
