Well here on the Goldy the humidity is often higher than elsewhere, and these two specific products seem to perform exactly as planned all the time.Raminator wrote:How do you find they perform in high humidity, Herman? I've got the medium and thick Zap-a-gap stuff, and I can't use them in summer; they bond instantly instead of the 5-10 minutes they say on the bottle. I reckon it's because CA is cured by water and heat, and when we're up above 80% and 30° it sets solid as soon as it has something to bond to. It's a pain in the arse, to be honest.HERMAN BIX wrote:I use a Sellys product, and on occasion a Loctite.
Both are Gel, slow cure High impact resistant.
I have tried the same branded normal cure stuff-the instant bond, and it is prone to impact failure much more than the gel high impact Selleys product.
Things like track hangers, skirt brackets, any accessories hanging off it etc etc all stay put now Ive switched to the gel-high impact resistant slow cure stuff.
For example, my Zu Fuss Panther with its rocket mounts stayed on when I hit a T34 on the front quarter at full speed, it knocked his hull right off his magnets and over the rear plate yet my rocket left front assembly did not move.
My Jagdtiger cut N tuck is assisted by the same gel as well.
Like the ad says "if its Selleys- It works"
Unless its loctite gel which works as well
