German 105mm K18 cannon

Post by Wolverine Tanker »

I recently purchased this Merit 1/16th model from a company here in the U.S and it is very detailed. I will post when I am done painting it. It was a challenge, 340 pieces to be exact. I wanted it so I could tow it behind my Opel Blitz. Yes, I know the gun is bigger than the truck but it's only temporary until I get my Famo. My only disappointment was that the front carriage the wheels where set up as static. The rear wheels have a screw to hold them on the axle but the front are held together with Delrin plastic sleeves that bound the wheels up. Even with using petroleum jelly as a lubricant it didn't roll freely. It had 2 in each wheel so I removed 1 and put a piece of plastic tubing that I had left over from my old smoke unit and it seemed to work. I'm still thinking that I may have to drill out the axle and replace it with screws also but we'll see.
I really like the detail. Over engineered is so right and large. 598.4mm long and 122.4mm wide.
I was a truck mechanic in the USMC and we towed 105mm howitzers but they look like a pac 40 compared to this model.
