Well that's alot of info, here i have built the heavist tiger short of 1/4 scale and the factory rx-18 board had me scared of over amping.el-mod is out and running the rx-18 w/fan is in. Thanks to everybody for all the information I have already spent to much money but my tank does run great,I was just worried about the power drain from the load on the motors,I guess the metal 3.1 ratio gearbox and the 3300 battery is all I really need.

I've got my elmod up and running, but i've come into a small problem.

All the functions seem to work fine except the motors.

They will run fine for about a minute, then will slow down, then stop with the left one going first.

Also when I turn the tank left or right the sound crackles, and all the chain sounds are very quiet.

Any ideas?

An update, now the elmod board refuse to work at all. When I power on, they work until I put any imput on the controls, then the Blaster swtiches off completely and the ThinkTank Module has bothe the green and red leds flashing.

Im going to shoot off an email to Thomas and see what he says, buy I feel I may just get a Tamiya MFU & DMD.

Rik - Charge the battery up. These are classic low power symptoms. Elmods will drain a 2000 battery in 5 minutes flat, a £30 4000 battery will last 20 mins max. The battery doesn't even get to go flat, as soon as the power drops off the tank will run in circles, and lose the signal.

Hope this helps

That running time is awful, I stuck a fully charged 3000 in and you were right, it started up again.
Im still thinking about just swaping to a Tamiya system.

Have you tried running 2 batteries? Maybe they'll be a longer run time?

Cheers,

4000 MAH battery gives 20 mins running time and you find this acceptable in a Tamiya this would run for hours a 2300 MAH battery gives me over 1 hours driving and it's all trouble free, Think I'm going to put an Elmod in my Tamiya Tigers and scrap the DMD they are useless

go for the swap i second on that. I had emode before on 1/16 tank,, and again, not enough power to go over the hills as COMPARED to tamiya system. I basically want a plug in and run system and I have to say emode requires LOTS of fine tuning and troubleshooting... Its nothing wrong with them but I could not bother and already spend lots of time on it already. Personally, I reckon  Elmode  still requires more R and D to refine their system. The only thing I go for is their sound files.

Cheers.

I would quite happily swap. Im sure no-one would want my elmod setup.

If anybody does though, id be glad to sell it cheap, or swap for even part of a Tamiya system.
