Urgent: Taigen 2.4 GHz electronics problem

Post by Lert »

I bought a new Taigen electronics set, namely this one:

But I am encountering problems when installing it:

- The only response I get from it is the fan turning on. No sounds, no motor activity, no lights.
- I've doublechecked to make sure all connections are in their proper place.
- Yes, the battery is fully charged.
- Tried it with speaker and motors connected, and just speaker connected.
- The procedure for rebinding (Flick right-hand switch forward, turn TX on, turn RX on, light on TX starts flashing) doesn't work, the light on the TX doesn't start flashing.

Am I missing something? Is there something else I can try? Or is this a case of appeal for warranty and get a new set?

Have you tried a different battery? Just checking as I've had a battery that would not hold a charge.

Update:

- Tried with a different battery, no change.
- Tried both batteries in a different tank, worked fine.
- Tried electronics from one of my other tanks with the motors and wiring of the tank I bought the new electronics for, works perfectly.

So, yeah. I'm really thinking this is a warranty case.

A spot of bad luck there. I've had several of those units in the last few years, and never had a problem with them. Substituting known good components for potentially faulty ones, was the right way to deal with the problem. There are other tests
you could try with a multimeter, and you could also look closely for evidence of circuit damage, and loose connectors (weak soldered joints). Overall, though, a replacement or a refund looks the best solution.

Im sure you've done this, but just in case. Have you bound the transmitter and receiver?

Tried, following the manual. The manual says, flick the right side switch, turn on TX, turn on RX, led on TX should start flashing. Mine never starts flashing. This leads me to believe that either the TX doesn't transmit, or the RX doesn't receive.

Hi Lert, do you have another taigen transmitter ? If so try binding that to the new rx, I had the same problem with a set that I bought, it turned out that the transmitter from the set would not bind with the rx for whatever reason. I tried binding one of my other taigen transmitters with the rx and it worked, so now I just use that transmitter to run the 2 rx's , only 1 tank at a time though, HTH

Cheers, Lee.

No, unfortunately.

I'm afraid this is a warranty case. Very annoying.

This sounds dumb, but the batteries in the transmitter can look in but not be.
Take the cover off the Transmitter, turn it on and rotate or wiggle the AA batteries.
This might get you up & running
