I still think this is an amazing reproduction of a real machine that could be in a movie lol. I do have to ask....really I do because I need some...where did you get the water / fuel cans?
Re: Sherman M51; an accidental build.
I bought them from schumo (axles modellbau) however I believe he's discontinued them. However verlinden do them in there 120mm modern jerrycan set. You'll need a couple of sets however.

I remember seeing the collection of bits you have turned into an M51 on ebay and thought of bidding. After having seen how it has turned out, I am glad I didn't.

First of all, a credit to you Mr Gun-ner to take time to look back over years of historic builds and glean all the info you can from them before the pictures disappear.
Second, good on you for not being so shy as to not bring this thread up to the top and revive the essence of what a genuine good build is.
To ask is reason enough for your questions to be answered...............I however, cannot assist,as to me, the Sherman has more combinations for a solution than an olive-drab(or in this case-Desert Sand) Rubiks Cube
I often take the time to look back through years and hundreds of builds, regardless of specific subjects to see how, with what, how much, I used this because, paint formulas are...............to help me become and achieve what so many have done before.

Hey Mick, just in work ATM. I shall answer your questions later!
Re: Sherman M51; an accidental build.
Hey,
So small hatches refer to the drivers hatches, currently no one makes a small hatch catch hull, nick Aguilar and Vandra model do a small hatch welded hull.
The hull used on my m51 is a mato hull with modifications.
The was a composite firefly (which I've modelled) this used a welded hull with the front of a cast hull welded on.
The hvss suspension is currently only available on the Tamiya Sherman (although target have made noises they might do one at some point) if you're after some I might be able to help.
The gearboxes are standard tamiya which are around 50:1 they work really nicely!
Hope this helps, any other questions I'll try my best to answer.

Re: Sherman M51; an accidental build.
Hey Mick, the hvss setup is completely different to vvss, different bogies sprockets idlers and tracks.
Re: Sherman M51; an accidental build.
I do believe they would workSon of a gun-ner wrote:Or will snow leopard sprockets, idlers and tracks work? With those hvss bogies? If they did, it would only be a case of making a Sherman hubcap for the idlers to look right.
Mick.
