Chainmail for tanks

Looking at Swedish centurions and seen this a chain armoured centurion that I would like to do

That looks really cool, but I wonder about its effectiveness, only dangling chains against high speed projectiles, would it have enough absorbing properties to cause an armour piercing round to tumble?

Apart from that, perfect tank for rasta mouse lol.

Ive no doubt the chains would have worked, but god !...noisy !!

The 'Bedspring' armour on T34/85 tanks was initially a field mod, but I believe kits were produced and sent out to be fitted behind the lines as replacement machines rolled out.

This is exactly what it was for. The chains were meant to trigger the fuses of shaped charges like HEAT and HESH rounds away from the armor.
