Voltage for smokers

Hi, my Tamiya Tiger 1 is fitted with two 6v smokers like the ones used in boats (quite a few years old!) Can I hook them up to a common 12v (or thereabouts) supply & they each draw 6v or do I have to do 6v for each? Way I've done it previously was 6v from 4AA batteries each which seems a bit old school. This was when smoke from a 1/16 was a novelty.

I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong, but casting my mind back several decades to my physics lessons, if you connect the smokers in series, then they should draw 6 volts each so no problem. If however you were to connect them in parallel, then you would be putting 12 volts through each one.

I have to say, I'm impressed that you managed to get 2 smokers into a Tamiya Tiger. There's not even room for one in mine.

eBay, Graupner smoke generator. Tiny unit that fits perfectly into each exhaust on my Tamiya Tiger 1, I use a syringe with needle to fill them from the top(armoured guard can stay in place) , they put out plenty of smoke, no need for fans.

In my Tamiya KT I knocked up a Frankenstein device with tubes and a fan and 1 smoker was effective split between the two exhausts. I did these 10 years ago when there were no real alternatives and thought these type of devices were long in the past! May be of use still.

They measure 5x1 cm. They do get pretty hot in use so I insulated mine with cotton wool.
