Hey, funny that you should ask, after a long time dormant I have been working on it recently, new idlers and idler adjusters which give a long more stiffness, new gearboxes, 4 shaft with bearings all around and provisionally I've installed an ibu3. It took a lot of work but I've also rebuilt the mechanics of the turret so it has a proper machined alloy barrel with recoil, elevation and a hidden battle system in the top cupola.

Looks almost Jagdtiger size, so is the KV5 a paper one or were they actually built ?

Kind regards Andy

Paper I think - the move east as the Germans advanced may have been one of the factors.

How much wider than the KV2 is it? I've got the 1:35 kit at home for when I clear the (growing - blame Forgebear) backlog....

Hey Andy,

I'll have to check at the next meet but it dwarfed the king tiger so I think it's even bigger than the jagdtiger!

Image

The prototype was started but the program was halted due to Stalingrad, some people say it took part but I'm skeptical.

What calibre barrel was the main gun Mr Hugill ?
Sure would have made a fat target for Stuka's at that stage of the conflict !
