eBay score

Post by capt midnight »

A buddy of mine came over today and told me about an auction he came across on eBay and wanted to know if I wanted to split it with him. Well, with personal conditions and an up coming vacation, funds are really tight. We worked it out that he would reimburse for the purchase if I got it. (he doesn't have a paypal acct)

To make a long story short, I won the auction. Now I'm just hoping that someone will tell me it was a really good deal. I sure thought it was, so I guess I'm hoping for some validation. :haha:

We wound up with 4 tanks, all with 27mHz radios. 2 each stug III's, a Pz III, and a Tiger 1. The only damage I could see was that the Tiger 1 and one of the stugs are missing battery doors, and the Pz III is missing the cupola doors. It also appears that one of the stugs has metal treads and sprockets. Total cost including shipping was $320USD. I thought it was a pretty good deal, even with the older radios.

The description stated that the seller was posting them for a friend. It appears that the friend's husband had left her, and she was selling off his favorite stuff! At least they will have a loving home now! :haha:

I'll post some pictures when the box of goodies arrive.

$80 bucks a tank! I think that is pretty good. My cheaper HL Shermans set me back about $130 to the door. Missing parts could be sourced or scratch built. Older radios have some draw backs, but if they work, they work.

Kind of wish I saw that auction! Congrats!
