Buyers Beware......

Post by Wolverine Tanker »

I just wanted to inform you about a vender that is on Ebay and is taking peoples money and not sending products out. I purchased tank chain set and a marker flag March 17th. On April 20th I got Ebay involved. The seller sends a heartfelt return saying that he is sorry and that it is going in the mail the next day. Then 10 days later still no product. I contacted Ebay again then Ebay refunded me saying that they have no record that seller sent anything out. The company is HQ Tanks from the U.K.

I'm glad you were able to get your money back, sorry you had to go through all that crap.

This post should be in the VENDORS BLACKLIST but I understand you're only trying to get your post the broadest amount of views. Which is why I'm going to leave it here for a few days, maybe a week and then I'm going to move it.

Thank you for getting the word out on this person, we don't need any other members going through the same crap you did.

It's always worth reading the feedback, it can be quite revealing. I am always suspicious of Chinese companies that are offering products at ridiculously low prices, maybe £1 etc. They then tell you in the description that the delivery date is weeks away, and that if the goods do not arrive, the buyer should contact them, not leave negative feedback? My guess is that if say 5000 people order the goods at £1 each, they have £5000. If half of those forget that they have ordered the goods, or can't be bothered to chase it up (because it's only £1), then the seller has made £2500 of free money?

Even if 4000 people ask for a refund and they refund the money without question, then they have still made £1000 for doing nothing. It's quite a neat trick.

I've bought a load of little things of the Chinese sellers in the past, every time my items have arrived within 2-4 weeks. The only sellers I've had trouble with are the British ones!

I managed to buy a German scale recognition flag from this vendor.. As far as I'm able to tell, he's not Chinese (Hu Yu?), but a one man operation based somewhere near Sheffield. His Ebay page does have this wee caveat emptor:
"....PLEASE NOT: I am a one man outfit - I make design everything myself and everything is made to order to highest standard - (Lead-time) it takes about 5 WORKING DAYS (which can mean 7 days including weekends) to make, print and fix etc. So if you cannot wait this long please don't order... Thank You. ..". Note: the "NOT" (sic) is his misspelling not mine :D
Since his products looked quite impressive, and I'm a fairly patient sort of guy, I thought the wait would probably be worth it and clicked the 'buy' button. (Something I do a lot these days, in the Model Tank sphere of merchandise :shh: ).
A week after the suggested delivery date had elapsed, and no show...it was time to get Ebay on the case. This seemed to buck his ideas up, and the Flag did in fact arrive, along with the excuse that he'd had family issues to sort out
(violins begin at this point...). Anyway, who's to say he wasn't telling the truth?.... so, I spared him any negative feedback....

My experience of buying from beyond these shores would indicate that the further away the dealer the better the dealer,
The Obvious exceptions being Ian at IBU, Dave at Forgebear and Steve at Welsh Dragon, All of these are absolutely failsafe vendors.
But Chinese dealers have NEVER failed me,
The excepted norm of "FREEPOST" as well as low prices of the product with no discernible lowering in quality make China a GOTO Country,
With one exception Australian Dealers have been on top of the job but I have had a lot of problems with Germany, although in fairness it is not the dealers But the Mail service which is somewhere between inefficient and darn awful.
I avoid the USA simply because of criminal robber baron postal charges, And that is a pity because "IMEX" in Florida under the safe hands of "Erik" make it a most attractive place to buy from.
Their loss.
Shaun.

Hi I have only had problems with EU suppliers ,ordered loads from China and some of the stuff has arrived faster than from Europe .So there is no way of telling who is bad , bought some Batteries from a UK seller , they didn't even have any in stock ,contacted ebay for refund money returned next day but couldn't leave a negative feedback because ebay closed the transaction, they still had a feedback of 98% which is good for sellers but they are putting stuff on ebay they don't have in stock. One thing to be aware of is Germany tends to shut down in August so if like me you order something at the beginning of August it could be September when it arrives I was well mad at the delay.
