Weights or "counter weights" ?
Hi all,
Just wondering what you all use for weights in the tank to create the more heavy look and feel on the suspensions. I am looking for something that is somewhat flexible in size, reasonable price and large enough to only need one or two to weight down the tank chassis. I have seen some large magnets but not too sure if it is a good idea to put electronics on top or beside large pieces of magents. They are heavy enough and does come in good rectangle shape.
Thanks !
MichaelC.

What tank do you have? Just adding metal tracks and road wheels will be a big differance. I added a metal plate inside my Tamiya Sherman for a lower CG and it was noticable.
Re: Weights or "counter weights" ?
Metal tracks and wheels do not add weight to the suspension itself. I am looking for something that will add weight to load of the suspension.
What kind of metal plate did you add to the chassis ?

This was available at one time. You can make one out of mild steel. The MFU and DMD sat in the large area and the battery was on the long side. The short side was toward the motors.
Lucky for you i just had this out and was installing the ETO TUs.

Michael,
I used lead sheet picked up on eBay to add weight to my Abrams. Don't lick your fingers after handling it though!

One option is copper coins, cheap and quite heavy, and you can move small amounts around to get the distribution right. They can be wrapped in duct tape and hot glued in place.

I used .36 cal lead ball black powder ammo sealed in a plastic bag in the rear of my Jagdpanther to counterbalance the weight of the steel gearboxes in the front.

Go to a tyre shop & ask for stick on mag wheel weights, they are flexible, cuttable, and self adhesive.

Lead shot for shot guns or sinkers for fishing work great, put them in a plastic bag with some epoxy, knead them about a bit and fit them in place and when the epoxy hardens you have a custom fit weight. You can then trim away any of the bag that's still flappin' about.
