Half-Tracks.

Post by jarndice »

Am I alone in wishing that at least one mainstream manufacturer sold German as opposed to American Half-Tracks,
There were some interesting types in service throughout the last unpleasantness but apart from the WSN/TORRO M16 there is nothing out there,
Surely it is long overdue that there was a wider choice?
Shaun.
I think I am about to upset someone :haha:

I've been hoping for a deuce and a half since I first got into the hobby. We definitely need more soft skin vehicles.
When FDR coined the phrase "The Arsenal of Democracy", he was talking about Detroit. Proud to live in the 2nd most violent city in America!!

There is obviously a market in 1/18 scale as 21st Century Models make one or two static ones.

Good morning,
Asiatam still offers their excellent Opel Blitz. Also, they now offer the Blitz in the Opel Maultier version which makes the truck into a halftrack. Either a Blitz or a Maultier is on my short list of 'Wants'. ;o)

The M16 can be had for under $300 complete, built and with radio gear which is a great price. Ludwigs kits as well as the Asiatam trucks are price prohibited for someone such as myself.

I converted a 21st Century 251 into an R/C halftrack using an IBU2, H/L smoker, H/L speaker, Asiatam metal tracks, Ludwig parts and some pretty decent radio gear. My cost to build the complete truck was still less then the Ludwig kits alone or the Asiatam trucks.

I'm not saying the Ludwig or Asiatam trucks aren't worth what they want for them, just that I can't aford them.

Good morning again,
What point is this exactly? If every time that I try to be helpful, I feel like I am being pointed out as a member of some kind of 'elitist' group because I think a 297.00 U.S.dollar RC Truck from Asiatam fits the OPs question as an answer, I'll stop trying to be helpful, period.
