Re: Big car engine
I couldn't help notice as the Helicopter /Drone camera lifted away a line of oil was coming out from under the engine,
But exhilarating is the only word to describe the machine in action.

Re: Big car engine
Cool vids , can anyone more computer savvy then I find the video of Jeremy Clarkson driving the car powered by a WW2 German aircraft engine please?
Now that is a cool idle and full noise sounding video.

Re: Big car engine
I am having lunch tomorrow with a very privileged man........he owns one of the rarest cars on earth.

Ive sat in it, and wondered just what it took to pilot one of these weapons at the cutting edge of auto technology in its time.
Audi Ingolstadt are working on drawings for an original engine, which will be cast in England by a classified organisation, and assembled by Audi.
This car is currently on display in Audi Melbourne, having recently moved from a new facility launch in Sydney.
A great honour to have a real encounter with such a work of art.

Re: Big car engine
How about this one then...it's 27litre Merlin Spitfire engine, with maybe in excess of 1,000 BHP
A tad thirsty, but great for the 'Traffic light Grand Prix'... Here's the car it was levered into:

Re: Big car engine
Privileged indeed. The moment I saw Audi I guessed it was the Auto Union C Type. A beast of a car. So much power and weight at the rear of the car and on such narrow tyres. Watching the old films, it really wags its tail on corners. To drive one you need to be fearless AND a very talented driver. At the risk of offending followers of F1 today, I would suggest that the innate driving skill required was a lot higher then. I realise it's like comparing chalk and cheese but I know which is more absorbing and thrilling to watch.HERMAN BIX wrote:I am having lunch tomorrow with a very privileged man........he owns one of the rarest cars on earth.

Currently watching Goodwood Members Meeting on ITV4. Historic racing, including the Beast of Turin. A race of Lister Jaguars of 1958 & 1959, narrow tyres, four wheel drifts through corners, fabulous stuff. I can remember watching races like these back in the 1950s on the BBC.
