I just hope Mr Shiner meets a few of those persecuted squaddies one night in a darkalley, he may have more than a shiner to his name!

Alwyn
Yep..I'm sure he'd be suitably rewarded with more than a 'shiner' :shh: 'Ambulance chasers' are the lowest of the low...although in this instance it was more a case of 'Taliban tax' :problem: What's more amazing is, in another controversial case, that the helicopter crew which shot a Taliban fighter (presumably with a view despatching him to the great beyond.. with or without virgins.. :shh: ) weren't sued for the deed by his family. Instead, Sgt Blackman, a decorated marine, was given 10 years
for completing the job....

I don't know if this is the best platform for my question but there are times when a fellow soldier is desperately badly hurt and will die or will be so desperately disfigured that any normal life would be impossible,
In the meantime he is in the most awful agony, For instance a Mortar bomb explodes in the immediate area close to an artillery piece and the loader is blown head first into the open Breech of the gun,
He is dragged out of a space far to small to fit a human head into, his face has gone, Sightless, screaming through a hole in the front of his head what on earth are we to do. ?
We could carry him off the hill and wait for him to die or wait until the evening for the supply truck that could take him to a field hospital,
Goodness only knows what they could do,
Or I suppose you could un- holster and cock his Browning 9mill, slide the safety off and put it in his hand and help him place it on the side of his head,
But what you don't do is when you write to his mum later that night you don't tell her the truth.
Dont ever say its the easy way out for ANYONE.
50 years later a man can wake in the night covered in sweat.
Shaun.
I think I am about to upset someone :haha:

What do you call five hundred lawyers at the bottom of the ocean?

A damn good start.
When FDR coined the phrase "The Arsenal of Democracy", he was talking about Detroit. Proud to live in the 2nd most violent city in America!!

Is there a collective noun for a bunch of lawyers? if we can have a 'murder' of crows', or a 'conspiracy of Lemurs', what would it be for parasitic lawyers? An 'ars*hole' of Attorneys? Or, a 'swindle' of Solicitors...a 'litigation' of Lawyers?
Incidentally, Shaun, I've often come across accounts of 'mercy' killings in battlefield conditions; but I think it's true to say that this particular instance, the flat out fanatic was having the same sort of 'mercy' dispensed to him that he been observed to have delivered to some of our wounded or captured troops.... >:<

I'm sure none of you will be surprised that there is actually a website devoted to collective nouns so I went ahead and looked it up ... and three of my favorites accredited at the website were, "Disputation", "Escheat", and "Greed", with the latter being my fave. A Greed of Lawyers. I wonder if we can get that adopted as the official RCTW term, so you could say something like, "Sorry it took so long to post this, Lads, but I've been with the Greed all day."

Do I have too much time on my hands? :wtf:    :wtf:

Yes, Gary....but it has entertaining consequences :D  I like 'Greed'...after all, "..Greed is good!". Maybe we could have a 'Gecko' of lawyers ;) :D
