I might have mentioned this before,
Many years ago after Briefing the platoon they were lined up for a final check before getting on the trucks,
"Oh Good oh, Rape and Pillage" said one soldier,
"PLATOON HALT" Screamed the Sgt Major,
He drew his Browning Hi Power from its holster and said
"If any man is caught by me indulging in ANY unmilitary activity I shall shoot him where he stands, IS THAT UNDERSTOOD"

Everybody did,
Soldiers are human beings with all the weaknesses of any man BUT when it comes to criminal behaviour you are more likely to be punished in the field long before a Courts Martial or civil trial takes place, which does not mean such behaviour has not or does not happen but it is very rare and harshly punished when it is discovered.
If you have ever been interrogated by the Royal Military Police Criminal Investigation Branch even as a witness you would absolutely toe the line. Trust me,
Shaun.
