Hi Guys The covers were given to me by Chris (Grompix) ,so no loss but I hate the Tamiya suspension ,to me it looks wrong ,when I was very young the first model I made was 1/72 Sherman Airfix ,I think I was 9 or 10 ,and can always remember having to get my Dad to help with the suspension .I have taken all your sugestions on board and will consider which way to go ,wish Mato would bring the suspension kits out this would solve a lot of problems .

I know what you mean Pete. I've always wanted a Firefly but the Tamyia Sherman is just too far off what i want to bother with getting, and damn pricey too.

My brother sourced and old 70's era hull and has pulled together all the running gear, unfortunately he found that the old and new Tamiya sherman kits arent a perfect match and took a lot of modifications to get right, then it stalled when deciding what model to finish it as. He was toying around with an Isherman M50/M51 mainly because of that bloody HVSS supension but has now binned that idea and is satisfying his usual craving for wading trunks with a standard M4 a-la-DDay.

I really think Tamiya have missed out on a lot of buyers here. I understand they were using a Korea era Sherman for the original kit back in the 70's but they could've quite easily updated it or brought out a whole new Sherman model in the last 30+ years (especially since the interest in 1/16 tanks has expanded recently) and lets face it, a good 90% of WW2 era Shermans were based on the VVSS suspension and it was the most common allied tank and probably the most well know and recognised tank to Joe-public in history.
You aint gettin me on no plane fool!

Hi Crispy To coin a frase you hit the nail on the head my thoughts exactly ,Tamiya must have made a good profit out of the Sherman and they could have spent a lttle of this doing upgrades ,they could have sold them as an upgrade kit with not only the suspension but a different turret and hull as well .They didnt have to change the kit as such ,and they would have made more money .I understand the changes needed to make a Firefly See the post of my conversion http://www.rctankwarfare.com/Forums/ind ... 484.0.html
Its not been easy to do but its been fun alot of differant things to change and like you have always wanted a Firefly, just fitting the electrics today .I know its not perfect but its the best I can do with the funds I have.
