Re: Captured US tanks
Why on Earth would the Germans have even bothered with a Sherman when they're the ones with Sherman killers!

Judging by the hole in the glacis plate, whoever was sitting in the bow gunners seat had a very bad day.

Re: Captured US tanks
My cousin also had some interesting observations:
That’s an M4A3 76mm (wet ammo stowage). It may have either had engine trouble or was hit in the rear as evidenced by the open engine hatch. The M36 doesn’t look as though it was captured. Also note the muzzle collars on both vehicles to protect the muzzle brake threads. I don’t recall ever seeing pictures of WWII service M36s with a muzzle break fitted and only a handful with the thread collar

When you're 80% horse drawn, you're not going to turn down any ride, especially one with a gun.
What, me worry?
Re: Captured US tanks
Is it captured? The cross on the side continues down a long way, and looks to be repeated on both sides of the mantle, turret side & transmission cover. Then again if I was driving a captured tank I'd want to make sure my side knew it!
