Hello from Melbourne

Post by dingobattler »

Hi guys,

New member from Melbourne here. I have a history in miniature painting (don't use airbrush though), that is getting into RC tank because of COH2 and reading the book "Enemy at the gates: Battle for Stalingrad". I love Soviet/Russian tanks and German tanks. Favourite is probably the T34 and the panzer IV.

I fell in love with the T90, but everything in Australia is so expensive, and I can't find any suppliers. The T90 I want (with metal everything) is AUD 600+ here:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/HengLong-1-16-R ... Sw4A5YtpcX

Seems very steep. Wonder if anyone can find somewhere cheaper that ships to Australia. Should I get the stock T90 or the metal version?

Also, is the ebay shop I'm looking at reputable? Can't seem to find much about them.

Hi, Welcome to the Forum,
Before you spend a fortune on a Tank from a dealer you know nothing about why not go closer to home and look at---
www.tankarmy.com
They sell Heng Long Tanks and spares for much less than Toucan are charging and they are an Australian Company with a good reputation.

Hi Jarndice,

Would love to order local, but that website seems half-broken, and there's not a lot of varieties of tanks there. Quite dodgy.

Hi dingobattler - the Tankarmy guys are fine, just that their English is not perfect. Go to the shop link. My last tank came from there and all came as described.

Same for Ozarmour - Mark is terrific and if you email him, he will reply.

I suspect both mobs are trying to work to economies of scale - they don't stock a wide range of tanks, but heaps of spares. If they can get you what you want, you will save.

Try contacting either of them directly - they might do a special order if requested.

Hi, I usually buy from there. All the orders that I received came from china (no problem there, just some info for you, guys) and they stopped selling tanks. Well, there are some for sale, but once they are gone, are gone forever. They are focusing on spare parts.
My RC tanks website, loads of free info for everybody:

I have used TankArmy a lot and can vouch for them but last I heard they were moving out of stocking tanks and just concentrating on parts. It would probably be worth dropping them an email to see if they can order you one in though.

Ozarmour is also very good and Mark is a great guy but stock seems to be an issue whenever I need something and he generally takes quite a while to restock.

Other than those two and what pops up on eBay Australia is a bit limited with RC tank vendors. Don't be afraid to order from some of the good European vendors like Welsh Dragon or RCTank.de. Shipping is usually pretty reasonable and delivery times are generally around a week in my experience. There might be some good options in the US as well but I find international shipping from there a bit more expensive.

Yes, postage from the USA to the UK is extortionate, more so if her majesty''s highway robbers (VAT) pounce on your parcel at customs.
If the post was cheap from there I'd buy a couple of HL Tigers with the latest dual sound boards at $79.00 each !
Tiger 1 Early Taigen,
Tiger 1 Mid Torro,
Tiger 1 Late Taigen,
King Tiger Taigen (P)
Jagdtiger Torro
King Tiger (H)
King Tiger Torro (H)
Tiger 1 late Torro
Panther G Taigen
