Hang on in there Pete, the Mato replacement VVSS kit is in the queue according to what I've been told...
Mart
P.S. don't go messing up your HVSS, I might be needing that for a future build to replace the Mato stuff

I would go with the covers fitted as you have there Pete. It won't damage the existing HVSS and its a simple mod to do. I think it looks better too (at least from the sides). If you paint the existing HVSS units matt black they will be less visible and you could swap everything over when the Mato Sherman comes out.

My opinion Pete is these covers only make the Sherman look worse. I too am not a fan of the HVSS set up and think Tamiya did the "wrong" type of Sherman. But with these covers fitted I think it looks even more wrong (terrible English there) as the track is still too wide and now the tank is getting a fantasy "what if" look.
I would love a VVSS Sherman but starting with the Tamy Sherman would involve way too much work for me before I'd be happy with it.
Dont want to sound to down on them since you've already bought them but If i were in your position, I'd sell them now and wait for the MATO Sherman to come out. I suspect once its out and is hopefully (please God) as good as the teaser pics make it look, the Tamiya Sherman wont get many takers and these covers maybe hard to sell at a decent price.
Having said all that and in answer to your original question.... cut the arms off, looks weird with them not moving with the road wheels. If you remove them carfully could you fit the arms onto the road wheels behind the covers?

Crispy has a very good point there you could also gut the Tamiya and install all the electricks and gearboxes to make a decent Matro tank that way you will have the early suspension or you could wait a short time after there release there will be a few people breaking them for parts them you could add the suspension and tracks to your Tamiya
