If only this was RC :-( still a sweet model though! I love the merkava! It was my first model tank all those years ago!

Eastern Front wrote:This model is just too expensive for a resin kit.. I have the Verlinden Panther "A" and the Tiger "E" both Resin models and I gave about $150 a piece for them, they are just as fine... I would consider the Merkava, but seriously, I could pick up a Tamiya King Tiger or Sherman for the same price and full option at that..

It does appear to be a well detailed model though...

Cheers!
And when we're those last produced?! Think expecting a full resin tank for that in this day and age is unrealistic. Having a look it comes with an excellent crew figure, metal tracks (!!) and a boat load of photo etch. It is expensive, but it's not unreasonable for what you get.

I have to agreed with Tom on this one. I just received the kit this week, and it is massive, wider than any of the modern tanks I own and just as long. The tracks are metal and come in individually pieces. The resin is well cast, much better than any Verlinden kits that I have seen. Besides those Verlinden kits are rare and they are certainly not $150 anymore.

Most of the details are from the PE which is two large sheets, real metal springs (not working suspension) for additional details, the lower is almost 1/4 inch thick all around. I can kill someone with one swing of the lower.

At the end of the day, everyone and their dog has a Panther, a Sherman AND a KT. How many you know has a Merkava ?

P.S. Painless the 50 cal is more details with PE parts. I will post the instructions for everyone to inspect.

Good morning, Michael,
Apologies, I was referring to the .50 cal on the metal, RC Merkava on the link posted by Met5. It is definitely a molded HL style BMG.

Eastern,
I agreed with your completely on the resin kit not being robust enough to RC. I RCed a Juckenburg Maus and it only runs indoor on a good day. I have grand plans for the SOL Markeve however and it involves Heng Long parts ! My hope is that it will have a strong chassis and a working suspension, and with the SOL resin top with more Heng Long and or metal parts (The main barrel will be replaced by a metal M1 from HL). So at the end this will be a all singing all dancing Merkava but it will be even more than just the cost of the SOL kit......... :'(

I actually looked into the metal Merkava and got some intel that the vendor is not terribly reliable and it could be months on end if you do get it, so didn't want to sent large sum of money to a vendor that I don't know and already has a history.......Just an aside, I don't think he quite got the scaling right on it. It looks a little too tall to me, and the road wheels are too small in my opinion but it could just be me.
