Sturmgeschütz IV

Hi,

This is a Sturmgeschütz IV assault gun. I used the Asiatam conversion plastic kit mounted on a Heng Long Panzer IV chassis.

I purchased the kit 2 years ago and after an inspection which revealed many flaws, I left it to sit on the shelf until I finally found the courage to build it last year. It's a difficult kit... Distorted parts, weird gun mounting parts, nothing seems to fit together. I did not manage to develop or to buy a cost effective way to have gun elevation so congratulations to those who succeeded, mine is fixed in place. But I added a sloped Juckenberg rear deck, Tank Modellbau Schurzens, Tamiya late sprockets and tool accessories. In the end, I am satisfied with it and it was a good challenge.

What electronics are you running in this beast?

It's expertly weathered and again the camo scheme is unique and very realistic

For this one, which is not the tank I would go to war with (I would use my Panther or Leopard II for that), I simply reused discarded Heng Long gears that I had thrown away in the spare box from past projects. I sealed the hull permanently to the chassis as it was the only way to keep the distorted upper hull strait. It's just to drive around.

I have a few tanks I would consider my best runners and battlers but I kind of enjoy the satisfaction of building something out of my spare parts and bits that would otherwise go unused. Again like you just to run about for fun maybe limited gun traverse or elevation but that's what makes the hobby so much fun

Well modelled - the results of your efforts look great, I would be proud to own such a vehicle.

I understand your frustrations with the full operational status.
It's probably one of the reasons I go for the RTR models - I don't have the time to spend hours on a tank.

If your vehicle was produced RTR I would but it !

Louis, that looks fantastic. Seriously fantastic. I really like the paint scheme, which may be more understandable when you see the photos of my Stug III. They could be brothers, eh?
