Smoker producing less smoke, low battery responsible?

Post by Spam In A Can 26 »

I'm cycling the NiCad & its pretty low but I don't want to get into memory issues so I'm letting it discharge a lot.
Would one indication of low battery be less smoke?
I do now its not fluid as I just topped it up with 2 ml.

Hi Mr Spam thanks for the bits I received in the mailImage
Haven't opened them yet but will do so tonight. Are you running a Nicad pack or NiMh pack? I'd say that the battery is running down and causing a loss of smoke.

Nicd are very old technology I wonder if the battery is in good overall shape. I've swapped some of my NiMh packs for LiPo's with my larger speakers and boards but even a NiMh pack is superior to NiCad.

NiMH batteries usually have a higher capacity than NiCd batteries of the same size.

Hope this helps

NiCad batteries have memories and will rapidly lose capacity if recharged without being fully discharged. They have a fraction of the life of NiMh batteries.

That is one of the things that for sure happens when the battery is low..first thing to attend to! Then connections..oil levels..etc :)

I have a "Turnigy Accucell 6" Battery charger which allows me to charge and DIS-charge NI-MH and LI-PO batteries which can be very handy, You can get it from "Hobby King" It charges my LI-POs in no time at all,
It is easy to use once you have found a web site from which you can down load the manual :lolno:
If anyone is having trouble working out how to get the best from it there is a very good video on "U" Tube.
Shaun.
I think I am about to upset someone :haha:

Yes its the old yellow shrink fit battery pack. It actually seems to be in decent shape, surprisingly for one that old.
It takes & holds a charge well & runs for decent length of time.
