HL 27Mhz smoker wiring ?

Post by puramo »

Hello
just picked up a really great HL Sd kfz ausf f1 (Panzer iv) no S and S, which I am slooooooooooowly going to add a new board to,

in the meantime - is it ok to wire up a proportional smoker to a motor, or across the motors to come on as the power comes on to the motors

or will this overheat / damage the little 27Mhz board

I'm still 'searching' previous posts so maybe someone has already talked about this possibility
cheers
(I am looking forward to getting a build thread going sometime)
BC: I couldn't do that. Could you do that? Why can they do it? Who are those guys?

Not sure with the stock smokers. I know the Tarr smokers ( later version) have a unit designed to wire to the motors... Not sure if they will work for you. Somebody else on the forum maybe able to be a better help.
Tanks alot....

If you are getting the stock proportional smoker which is basically the stick smoker with some electronics you should be fine.

Thanks for the replies
those Tarr smokers look great, and they now do a proportional version
I think the standard HL smoker is not proportional but you can solder in an additional board to make it so,
I guess I'll just experiment a bit and see what works out, I'll get it all up in a build thread as the work progresses - cheers

Dave (Forgebear) amongst other dealers used to sell a Proportional Heng Long smoker but one day they just stopped being advertised and all you get these days are the usual all or nothing smokers.
Truthfully if you feel a smoker is a must have then a Tarr smoker is about as good as you will find available and by the way they have always been proportional but you needed to get the correct version for your particular control board.
Shaun.
I think I am about to upset someone :haha:

Ian @ rctankelectronics (tankbear) still sells proportional Tarr smokers - the Mk3 Pro and Mk4 Pro. "works with Heng Long, Taigen, Torro, Tamiya tanks and other radio control models with one or two motors"
Richard
Tamiya Tiger 1, Taigen FlakPanzer IV,Torro M16 half-track, Tamiya Panther,WSN/Torro T34,Taigen M41 Bulldog,H/l/Taigen Sherman M4A3,H/L T90, Haya M3 Grant, Metal Origins 234/2 Puma, Nashorn by Alwyn. I was only going to have one tank - honest! :D

Cheers for the feedback,
my original concern was wether the smoker unit could be wired through the motors and NOT through the board as I am currently running the old 27Mhz board (obviously the newer boards are just plug and play) and if there would be overheat issues
