Re: Comet A34 Scratch build
Poor printer has been working overtime. One side done, one side to do. 2 hours 17mins for each one.

Heart in mouth, the dodgiest print in the history of dodgy prints...and the tracks fit the sprocket, and the sprocket fits the shaft.

Re: Comet A34 Scratch build
My poor printer has been going from morning till night for days. Fully assembled one side, all working suspension, and everything lines up so the tracks should stay on the wheels and sprockets. Still need to do the return rollers and spacers, I''ll get on to that tomorrow.

Taking shape, need to spend some time cleaning up the printed parts, but I will hang back on doing that until I have everything together, it's all screwed together with stainless bolts so can be dismantled.

Re: Comet A34 Scratch build
Following your progress with great interest, Wibb., as i shall be starting my Ludwig Cromwell build in a couple of weeks. I'm especially interested in the suspension system you're using. There was as mention of 'coil spring', and I wondered whether that meant you were using Pz111 style components? The photo of the completed side panels + running gear looks pretty impressive, but I wonder if you could post a clearer shot of the suspension arm/ spring arrangement you have there sandwiched between (within) the two side panels? More light is needed to appreciate the interior...if it's no great bother.
Cheers
I've bought Chris' metal 'swingarms' and springs for mine, but just wonder whether it's the best- or most effective- arrangement.

Re: Comet A34 Scratch build
Here's how I did the suspension, I couldn't see any other way of doing it that was simple. The pin on the arm points upwards, the pin on the block points downwards. The suspension 'arm' is between the twin walled hull, and the block on the upper spring mount likewiae. The spring locates over each pin.
I need to install stops on the underside of the hull to prevent the arms from dropping down, though the tracks should prevent that happening.
