roll mats, are these ok ?

Post by Matdragon »

hi guys i decided to make some roll mats to put on the super pershing as stowage, they took about 1 min to make each,

i made 5 as i found out earlier there are 5 crewman in the pershing :D

they are strips cut from an old green t-shirt, rolled up,

2 thin strips or 0.25mm plasticard painter with citadel boltgun metal,

the strips are then curled around the fabric and super glued in place,

i know there is no buckle or anything but they were quick easy and free to make :D

let me know what you think please!! :D

Matt

p.s. sorry for the poor pic quality, they were takien with flash in the dark, and the flash pics are never any good :(

look good Matt, like the others have said, brown would look better for the straps and a bit thinner but otherwise they look the part :)

Hi Matdragon

The rolls are looking good, mate. I have used another technique to create more realistic rolls.
To create my rolls , bags and tarpaulins I simply use tissues ( for bags , tarpaulins) or Kitchen roll towels ( rolls ).
After you build the rolls and fixed them using two pieces of string you have to saturate the roll with water. btw the same steps are used for the bags with on exception :
Don't wring the bags ! Now wring the roll gently to get rid of the unnecessary water. Bring the roll or bag into the desired shape and allow it to dry completely.
This drying step can be shortened using your backing oven at a temperature of 60 deg Celsius ( But only when your goverment isn't at home  ;) ;D )
After that take an old paint brush and apply a thin layer of woog glue. Let the wood glue dry completely.
Then you can paint it with the colour you need. A little bit of washing and highlighting. Et voila ....... as the frenchmen says.  Follow the link below and see how my rolls, bags and tarpaulins look like:
