New to rctanks

Hi sorry for any ignorance but I'm totally new to rc tanks ,what in most members minds would be the best tank to start with ,it would have to be a complete model as I think. Would struggle at the moment building one ,thanks again ,copshaw

Welcome to the hobby and the forum. be warned, it is an addictive hobby - there is no such thing as "just one tank". Check out my signature.

Your question opens up a whole can of worms. Be prepared for as many suggestions as replies. I am a relative newcomer, but for a ready to run tank, there is a lot to be said for starting with a Heng Long tank. They are probably the cheapest and a good way to cut your teeth. When you move on, you can either buy something else or upgrade your existing tank. Do you have a favourite tank? A lot of people choose the Tiger 1, but be careful. There is a tank out there which is an odd hybrid, commonly nicknamed the PanTiger. It is a Tiger chassis with a stretched and odd shaped Panther hull on top. Apparently, they are good runners, but do not represent anything that actually existed.

Yes hello as Mr Silversurfer noted this can be a loaded question...

And I started with an innocent Taigen panther....

Now a separate workshop and section of my study have become dedicated to this hobby (obsession)

My best bang for the buck was taigen Tiger I. That's my opinion.

A bit more pricey than a basic Heng Long but you get what you pay for IMHO.

Hi, some of the newer heng longs are available with a new twin sound system, I picked a Sherman up for £80, it sounds really good, the tiger 1
is also available with the twin sound, regards john.

Looking around you seem to have got a bargain at that ,my preferred choices were tigers or Sherman ,king tiger will wait lol

I'm relatively new to 1/16th R/C coming from 1/35th static and I'm already on my 4th Sherman project! Like said, its addictive and can be expensive, so maybe start with BB sound and smoke, then upgrade to metal as you go along? Whatever you decide on, its one way to get familiar with the hobby.

Was looking at metal for robustness but ,may be better to start at the bottom as they say ,so much to take in going through the forum ,when I'm here what speacialist tools would you recommend cheers

Copshaw start out with what you are comfortable with. One bit of advice.....

I went the route of the "inexpensive plastic tank" and after a bunch of metal upgrades and money invested I could have bought a Taigen

The best benefit of the the base model is you learn to fix and upgrade as needed (or want to)

I also have Tamiya tanks as many people agree are the best but are the most expensive.
