Can you tell me , no doubt yes , why were the tow cables put tow end forward in the later models?

I truthfully don't know, but I imagine that it would be very time consuming opening the engine bay doors with the loops having to be released from the clasps first and then having to lift the sheer weight of the things whereas with the unrestrained wire rope over the engine bay doors opening them would not be a problem., Just a thought,

Well , my old mate , the reason was , the early cables were 16mm and were relatively easy to fold/bend.
After the lads in the top realised these heavy beasts broke down somewhat regularly and needed towing out of the battlefield they upped the tow cable thickness to 19mm.
These thicker cables were far more harder to fold/bend in the original configuration so a new pattern was authorised.
The one we see on the H/L model.
This is why we see so many images of Tiger 1's with the tow ropes draped over the length of the tank.
It was phyisically to hard to stow them properly.

Thanks for the pictures Aussie, I've been having trouble finding good photos of the exhausts and suchlike. It never occurred to look a pictures of models.

The Exhaust shrouds and the front and rear fenders you have to make, everything else is out there somewhere if you look.

Actually it turns out that EVERYTHING is out there including the exhaust shrouds and fenders, Aber makes a kit that contains all the relevant modifications for a 501st tiger. However it costs around 350 euros. mabey I will scratch build everything instead. Anyway here's the link if anyone else is interested

Or possibly model it after 131 at Bovington , it was in Tunisia but looks near enough to your H/L.

Hi all.
I haven't posted in a while, but I've done a bit more so I'll let the pictures do the talking.




I cut off the front fenders and made up some new ones with hinges made from "soft drink cans"
Then I made some stands for the headlights and put some blackout covers on the lights. I'm thinking that I'm going to get a pair of metal ones online though coz my home made ones don't look that great

And now for the grand finale...... I've finished one of the Fiefel air filters. I couldn't find any tube of the right diameter for the barrels, so I used an irrigation pipe fitting, which melts in a similar way to the plastic that heng long tanks are made of.

I need a second opinion on the exhaust shrouds for my tiger.
I have made two different prototypes of the exhaust shrouds, one from aluminium and one from styrene. In my opinion the styrene one looks too boxy, but it was much easier to make than the aluminium one.





Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks
