running two three volt motors from h.l. multi unit

Hi Folks.
tanking for dummies here !
Can I run a Tamiya twin motor/gearbox set from a h.l. 2.4 multi unit. on a 3 volt lipo pack.
Daft question I know . but if one does not ask, one will never know.
As I want to r.c a takom Renault ft17 char kit
any help or crits will be welcome.

Better of using resisters to drop the voltage and using a 2s lipo

Resisters tend to get hot, I'd just replace the motors with ones that can handle the power.

That's also an option. I think you can get replacements ok. I'm sure the 1/35 and my 1/24 chieftain run off 7.4v and it runs that gearbox

Hi If you use to lower voltage the receiver may have problems ,most receivers run on a minimum voltage of 5v .
Motors usually run on higher voltage than the rated voltage on the unit ,they just run faster. most motors have a speed per volt rating.
One way to test is run the motors at a higher voltage if they don't get hot they should be fine.
