Re: Tank fanatic based in Gloucester
Just one more question, please, should I go BB or IR? Bearing in mind I would like to hook up with like minded folks, and would imagine there are competitions etc yes?

If you are looking to battle with other tankers, IR is the way to go. However, there is a drawback. The standard system that is almost universally used is the Tamiya IR System. Sadly, the Taigen IR system is not compatible. This means you would have to fit a replacement control board instead of the Taigen one e'g' Clark, Elmod or IBU. You would also need to fit a replacement IR emitter, though these are not expensive. About the only consolation is that I have discovered that the receiver (apple, mushroom) does actually receive Tamiya type signals. I am, myself, still a comparative novice, so, hopefully, others with greater knowledge will explain it all better.
Although it is a bit of a trek from Gloucester, you might like to come to the next Bristol Armoured Division meeting, where you can chat to your heart's content. It is a lot easier than writing and reading posts AND you can see the tanks in action.

Thanks for the information. I have just this morning ordered Taigen Tiger 1 from Forgebear with BB so this will get me started. I actually live halfway between Glos and Bristol (Jct13 M5) so distance no problem. Would love to come to the next meeting. Look forward to meeting up.

Keep your eye peeled for a post from TK Commander headed Bristol Armoured Division. No BB firing at the meeting, I'm afraid. In the meantime, you might like to browse this http://bristolarmoureddivision.weebly.com/
