Flippin' yank newbie

Post by Spam In A Can 26 »

Living in MD, USA, but originated in Brissle.
Just got into the hobby & am at the bottom of the learning curve. Since I retired I have time on my hands & as I used to model before I got back into the hobby.
I have 2 used Heng Long M-26 Pershing 1/16 scale RC tanks & am working on getting them up & running properly & detailing modifying & so on.
Both are older models & one is 27 Mhz, the other a 2.4 Ghz conversion, done by our old friend "bubba"

Lots of pictures coming right up as I was a photographer in another life.

The old 27 Mhz unit, it has multiple disasters so its becoming the parts donor for the other one.

The less problematic, but not right 2.4 Ghz one I'll be trying to get to 100%, both are BB firing versions.

Hi Spam,

Welcome. Would love to see what you can do with scale tanks and photography. I find them a difficult subject to stop them looking like toys. And at 1/16, dioramas have to be huge to stop the real world impinging into the scene.

2 quick tips. Wide angle lenses shot from low down & up very close make the "Tiny toy" look go away. Like this:

The diorama is best served with something called "Forced Perspective" (Google for details) where a model up close has a real background way behind it.

Cool! We're planning on moving out that way towards Harpers Ferry or Falling Waters W.Va.

That's a crisp shot for openers. Like Estniche, and many others on the Forum, I'm a fan of well taken pix, so I'm sure you'll be making and posting eye-catching shots in future.. as well as sharing with us the highs and lows of model making. That..along with sharing the various (most compelling) techniques of rendering model images for fellow enthusiasts..er..addicts. Welcome to the Forum too...of course :D
