Comet hull width?

Post by wibblywobbly »

Does anyone have a 1/16 Cromwell or Comet and could you do me a favour and tell me the width of the hull. I am after the width of the main bare hull. not the outer edges of the wheels or track guards.

Many thanks

Hi Rob, I'm not sure if these would help,
http://www.the-blueprints.com/blueprint ... -34_comet/

You may be able to print them to scale and do the measurements
Cheers

Thanks Alwyn but I already have numerous plans etc, the problem is knowing one exact dimension on the real one so that I can do the calculation. There are numerous references to length/width etc, but none relating to the lower hull itself, and rarely are two measurements the same. It depends where exactly they are taking the point to point from. I was just hoping that someone can measure one that they have in 1/16 scale as it would be more accurate than trying to do it from the drawings. I have done the side plates, it's the mysterious hull that I now need. ???

Hey Rob I did but I actually did't build the Comet lower from Ludwig. I used a Heng Long T34 lower, with Heng Long Leo roadwheels and PzIV return rollers.

Gary's got mine but I've asked him to stop his wine drinking and get some dimensions!

Hi yes ive got Tom's tank here at the moment to fit a battle system.
I have two measurments first one is from the outside edges of the hull
Hull outside edge 128mm
Then i have the measurment from were the suspension arms start as the hull is built around them.
So suspention arm inner hull wall is 102mm
Hope that helps

You are star!

The best I got from enlarging/scaling up pics of the Bronco 1/35 sprues was 114mm wide plus 2 x 2.5mm for the side walls, so 119mm. If you have 128mm and that is Ludwig hull then I will go with that. 119mm looks way too narrow.

The length of the side plates is 425mm using my Heath Robinson approach, and as they are already cut out they will have to do. Unless I am a million miles out. :/
