Hi Herman, yes I'll definitely add those to my to do list but I'm not sure when I'll get to them. :haha: :haha:

I'll open up a general discussion thread re the downloads and maybe we can get something going.

Cheers

Alwyn,
Please add some 1/30 scale Sherman track links for sets. I'll sing your praises forever more if you pull those off.
regards,
Painless

With some trial and error I managed to use the hinges:
Image
The hinges have to be thoroughly cleaned of excess material created by the print process and the pivot hole CAREFULLY drilled out to the correct diameter for the pin otherwise they will break (I only broke three before I got the hang of it - door - hang :lolno: :lolno: )

Decided to make it look pretty so put a coat of paint on.

Still loads of work to do on the gun carriage including the elevate/slew control wheels (I still have to figure out how to do that in Openscad) and the gun sight, and then on to kitting out the cab with assorted boxes/ammo storage etc.

it's coming along nicely and I'll be taking it as a runner next Sunday, but obviously no turret electronics.

Love the exhaust pipes peering out very well done! Of course the entire build is awesome. What electronics are you running ?

Hi Carl, thanks for the kind words, at the moment the electronics is just an RX18 but I was thinking about a Clark TK22 when I've finished the build, at least that will allow for servos on the slew, elevate, and recoil without mortgaging the dog. I'd love an IBU2 Pro but that's just a tad outside my budget.

Now for a jaw-dropping moment (for me anyway). I read up the openscad tutorial and had a bash at the control wheels, and blow me 30 minutes later there are the two different types of control wheels I need!

The software and hardware are amazing and so simple to produce what you need. Someone asked a question about producing concave prints, which both of these were, and it caters for the support structure automatically.

The first control wheel has a solid concave centre and that came out just fine. I printed with a layer height of .15mm which I realised afterwards I should have used ,1mm as it would have given a smoother texture, but it's hardly noticeable.

You can see the support structure that it prints

The four-spoked control wheel I thought would have presented more problems but no

and again the support structure

And there we have a set of control wheels!

Easy peesy and I haven't had so much fun since my first meccano set which was ...never mind it was a long time ago.

After that I think a brandy and coke is richly deserved.
