Re: Tamiya Early Tiger 1 Static to RC Build
I was going to do an end run around the polycaps to get a little more work done....and another order placed with AAF for the 'J' parts turret ring. I'm still making progress, it's just a little slower while awaiting the Post. Good news from TankBear this morning, the electronics are on their way. Pics:

Re: Tamiya Early Tiger 1 Static to RC Build
I really wanted to do some work on the Tiger tonight since it was one of my few free nights this week. I settled on assembling the ABER aerial and making it flexible so that the main gun wouldn't sweep it off while coming around. The aerial can be removed from the socket on the deck with a slight twist and a pull in case the tank needs to be laid over for work or maint. Pics:

Post brought a critical piece of the Tiger build today along with some small bits of the 'Gathering Storm' of Detail for mine. *chuckles* Pics:

I have the vicarious pleasure of opening your parcels with you, Painless. Hmm., oh, but I wish that new Tiger 1 had landed on my porch.
..ah, but then `I did just receive Chris Ludwig's Cromwell Kit...so the balance in the Universe has been partially restored!

43rd R&R,
I will definitely be following along on your Cromwell build. I see myself as an average builder and I plan on learning lots from seeing you put that Beauty together. He has a either a Churchill or Matilda II that I plan on doing one day when I feel I am ready. ( trained enough )
regards,
Painless

If what you are doing with that Tiger is done by an "average" builder, then that firmly places me in the beginners' class.

SS1947,
We're all out here, enjoying our armor and having fun. That's what it is all about to me. ;o) I follow your builds for a reason, to learn something new from an accomplished builder.

You're far too Modest, Painless. That's admirable and genteel, but sadly old school these days. In any event, I'll second what Richard and many others have said about your consummate watchmaker-like skills; as witnessed here by this elegant journey. There's nothing 'average' about the work here. Not a thing.PainlessWolf wrote:43rd R&R,

As for the Cromwell, it could be a disaster.

Above all, though, it's great setting a goal; something to aim at. Your Tiger is the Bullseye

Friends make everything done worthwhile. Tonight I settled on Step 31 ( in both the Static and RC Manual ) as something low impact ( on the rest of the build ) which could be done while waiting on those parts. Pics:

Post arrived today with the parts ordered from AAF. I sat down after stringing Christmas lights this afternoon and worked through Step RC32. Awaiting the Flash unit for Step RC33 with the rest of the electronics but up to Step S28/RC34 is complete. Pics:
