Battle systems

Post by mickyb »

Hi folks,

Well now.... I discovered the reason that I destroyed my DELL laptop in 5 months..... I happened to turn it over and found that the air input grille to the cooling fan is right where my left knee/leg is positioned when the pc is on my knee, so I must have been starving the board and processor of cooling air. What a ruddy stupid design fault eh....

Back to the interesting stuff.....

the pz4 is nearly painted so I am just getting the last of the bits in place before rebuild.

First I ask of your experiences with the HL battle kit on rx 18 boards..... are they ok!!!

This seems to be a nice cheap way of adding battle capability to the tanks plus I can buy new tanks already kitted out with battle system on RX18 boards.

I understand that I can't fit this HL kit to the ElMod tanks but is there a system that I can fit to ElMod that will work with HL battle system tanks???? I hope there is cos I have a spare set of ElMod cards and want to build another Tiger, it would be a shame to have two systems that would not work together.

I am too ruddy old to read and understand all the techy bumph so I fall upon your superior knowledge....

Thanks fellas.....have a great Easter.........Mike

There is the BSU system out there somewhere, that will adapt the signal sent to the emitter so that it's readable to others. I don't know anybody who has tried it tho...
Buying DBC's from The Blitz would be my recommendation - (edited to remove my misunderstanding of how the BSU works!)
Buying the similarly priced DBCHL2RC set would also allow you to dump the HL transmitter and reciever, and replace them with something better.

hi mike
not 100% on the techy mumbo fiddly stuff
but as im aware you can only use h/l battle kits with other h/l battle kits
so in my opinion you would be better of going for the dbc/dbu which is compatible with the tamiya system

im sure someone else more techy qualified will be along shortly to put you right but thats my take on it  :D :D

Hi Guys the BSU converts incomming signals to its own system then sends it to the Heng long (or tamiya or el-mod )battle system in a form it understands, when you fire the heng long its goes through the BSU, and sends a signal that is read by the tamiya system .
Its posible to fit the BSU to any system for the friend or foe when this is set you cant shoot anyone thats on your side ,its a clever bit of kit and its cheap 28 euros + post .Having said this I havnt tried the system yet but will be when I use my last Darkith system .
Have downloaded the pdf flie about the BSU if you want to contact the guy who makes them send me a P.M. and will send you his e-mail address dont want to put it on the post with all the crap you get when your e-mail address gets round .

I think you still have to replace the HL emitter LED, as the wave length is different - I seem to recall Darkith measuring it at 880nm, but the Tamiya system and its clones use 940nm

If you wanted to stick with the HL battle system, I can vouch for it. I have had battles with it and it performs perfectly, though as has already been stated its not compatible with Tamiya/Elmod.

The only gripe I have with the HL is the little wiggle that the tank does when hit/destroyed, it's a bit iffy.

The mushroom is a nice quality bit of kit. The Darkith/Elmod battle systems do not come with anything that even looks like a finished job so you either have to hack it to pieces and hide the sensors and led's, or make a mushroom to cover everything up.

Cheers

Darkith (and others) has already confirmed that you can easily put one of the sensors he uses into the HL tower in place of the original one. Or you just throw money at the Blitz to make a cover for you ;D ;D ;D

Hi Matt no it keeps the wiggle but its a cheap way to convert Heng long to Tamiya ,When the Sherman finaly gets here its (Ive read somewhere compatible with Tamiya)so the electrics will be in high demand also the T55 is supposed to have Tamiya compatible system and the eletrics in this comes as a kit this is also way overdue to be released .Its hard in the UK. to get Tamiya compatible systems ,there isnt a dealer in the UK. who stocks any system ,Tankzone says it has the EGS but everytime you look it says no stock .El-mod still have to buy from Germany ,Darkiths System still waiting to see if Andy is getting them in.

hey pete, thats a damded shame it keeps the wiggle, 'cos i've heard its a bit naff ... but then again at least people can battle HL's cheaply now! :D

i think though, even if i were to get a new hl, id still get darkiths system, as you can have the better sounds and no wiggle lol :D

the EGS, i wouldnt bother, ive also heard about that, that it doesnt make any noises, and would probably also keep the wiggle, so your better off getting the BSU as its cheaper :)

cheers,

Matt
