Re: Bristol Armoured Division
The next large project will be a stone bridge. I would appreciate some advice as to the required carriageway width.

Richard, I think the biggest tank we have in BAD will be the Challenger 2 the width across the tracks is 220mm that would also accommodate the width of the upper hull, so it would have to lets say at least 250mm wide to get a Challenger 2 through.

Thanks John. I am intending to use bendy mdf which comes in 4x2 sheets, which I was proposing to cut in half, so that should be fine.

Fine by me, and if we can have a grippy surface on the road that would be a bonus.Bogeyman wrote:Richard, I think the biggest tank we have in BAD will be the Challenger 2 the width across the tracks is 220mm that would also accommodate the width of the upper hull, so it would have to lets say at least 250mm wide to get a Challenger 2 through.

Due to the house move from hell going nowhere I have made a start on renovating the scenery I have, it's all endured a season of being bashed about and needs a refresh.

Re: Bristol Armoured Division
Just a word of advice on bridges.
I made mine well wide, but the grippy surface I put on it makes desperate changes of direction on it difficult.
If you cant see 100% to line up the approach, and you get it wrong, you risk hitting the abutment & perhaps damaging a bit of your tank.
Better to have the ability to skid the tracks if there is resistance rather than bust a bit off.

Re: Bristol Armoured Division
Just got a call from the lawyers, he told me that they are expecting to exchange contracts on the house tomorrow. Never in the field of human endeavour has so much been owed by so many to so few.
If this actually happens I will/should/might move within a week or two. If past events are anything to go by I am fully expecting North Korea to launch a missile strike on Castle Cary and I will be back to square one again....
