Been a bit slow recently.
The electronic issue has really stunted my progress.
I have had a good response from Andrew at HAYA UK about getting hold of the vital 8-pin plug socket and correct cable for the new radio set to make this work.
Once I get the radio functional, I can sort the Taigen recoil/elevation system & then close the hull.

Tonight was only texturing the mantlet, front upper plate, and rear plate with Tamiya putty & thinners on the end of a good brush.
Made the hooks for the rear deck so when the bits I have on the way as swapsees arrive for the engine hatch, I can sort that & then place the engine deck details.

But really, I have to get the electronic system set up in order to truly progress.

Good morning, Herman,
Looking really good. Nice choice and solution for the recoil mechanism. The Taigen units lend them selves to modification of the plastic pieces really well and function great once mounted.
regards,
Painless

Morning Mr Mekker

I have a transmitter and receiver out of a new T90.
Rather than piss around trying to reroute wires & all that, I have found that HAYA has the new cables and 8 pin socket that is vital to making these things work in older tanks when you convert them.
I will buy the bits & then proceed as normal.
Casting was done with Tamiya putty & thinners stippled on with a stiff brush.

This kind of makes the effort worth it.
Primed the mantlet plate and recoil assembly.
Assembled using a good dose of PVA glue to assist the side plates onto the barrel sleeve.
As the pivots will not pass through the front plate, they have to be secured with the plate loose, then the lot gets placed in situ on the casemate.
Had to cut a 2mm allen key down to just a slight bit longer than the corner in order to fit the thing in the tiny gap to tighten the pivot plates, but got it.

A bit of added clearance to the pivot mounts in the hull and its in ;)

Barrel is outrageously big!!......................and I love it

Even managed to catch the screen saver picture I took when I visited APG in 2010 !!

That thing looks HUGE! (I know, I know...THAT'S WHAT SHE SAID!......LOL!) Makes me wonder if the Torro barrel length is correct. How long is that barrel Herman?
