Asia Team Board- RX-18 2,4Ghz Connection Problems

Hello Community,

Maybe someone of you can help me. At the moment I am building an M10 Wolverine out of a HL Sherman (a version with a Gen.3 RX-18 with 2,4Ghz). So far so good, now I have started to do something on the electronics. In fact that I cannot use the original BB-unit due to the open turret, my plan was to install a servo to move the cannon up and down- the rest of the controls can be accomplished with the original controls (like turret rotation etc). For this reason I bought a circuit board which can be combined with the original RX-18 board. Sadly, I didn't know that there are differences, and looking at the manual of this product shows me that it only works with the standard HL RX-18 or the version of Taigen. The problem is: I have to put a cable on the underside of the RX-18 to connect it to the new board- in the picture below you see an original RX-18 (left) which I had handy (but cannot use it because the receiver is not included in this board) and the 2,4Ghz RX-18 which I'd like to use:


Does anybody know where I have to connect the cable in the right board? Or maybe I can connect it on the upper side with a connector, the Taigen board can be connected with a simple cable with plugs- which I tried as well, but it does not work.

Sorry my lack of being specific, but electronics are not my strength- maybe someone has or had exactly the same issue and has some tips for me.

Have you seen this video from Asiatam, and downloaded the relevant pdfs from the Asiatam website? The MFU illustrated in the video is a Taigen 2,4ghz one, along with a (matched) stock Taigen TX. Ideally, that is what you should have. I imagine the pdf will show you where to attach the essential wires; but if not...ask Herr Tam for instructions.

Hmm..typical Asiatam. The 9-page pdf for the servo unit is impossible to find on the website, but here is a link for a download:

You may need (judging by the video) to run a red and black connector cable from the corner two pin power socket on the asiatam board, to the base of the power input terminals on the Taigen MFU (also red /black)..
But check and double check.

First of all, thanks for the answers. I have the manual, I also found the video you posted here. But the problem is: I have neither the Taigen Board nore the Heng Long stock RX-18. But I will try my luck by trying to connect the cables like on the Taigen.
I already soldered a cable to bring power to both boards; the funny thing is, I can control the servo as gun servo (the recoil thing) if I put the cables in the positions for it. But it does not work for the elevation control.

Anyway, I will check, double check and even triple check once more- I want so see my Wolverine running

You're welcome, or course. Peet.
It seems as if you have a mismatch of parts. If I were you, I'd buy a Taigen controller kit, with matching Radio TX. I think I read lately on the (Florida based) Taigentanks website, that their controller/MFU can be matched to any other Taigen T5 transmitter. In any event, Kits are relatively cheap compared with 6-channel setups. Thing is, once you've got all those servos working nicely, what will you do about the sounds? I suppose you could add the Beier
sound card, but then it's going to be cramped in there. By the way, your English is excellent.

Thanks for the compliment about my English- I knew it makes sense watching movies only in English with English subtitles

I will check out the Taigen Controller Kit as you mentioned (do you have some links for that?). I tried it once more lately and it still does not work. About the sounds: in fact that I will use the tanks primarily for videos (with up to 600FPS) I don't need sounds at all. Usually I record the sounds from video games like War Thunder; I add them later into the videos, along with some pyro effects if available.

I am a regular visitor to Zürich, where my son lives; but find 'Schwiizertüütsch' almost impossible to follow! Mind you, the same can be said for English speaking foreigners visiting Glasgow!!
