Tamiya Heat-resistant tape..

Post by 43rdRecceReg »

Every time I do a spot of window shopping, and sighing, on Axel's website,... of late under the lists of spares available for each Tamiya tank, and necessary to build one... I'd noticed for that every model, a pack of 'heat-resistant" double sided tape is mentioned. :eh:
Can anybody tell me where it goes, and if it's really necessary? If anything in the tank get's hot enough to merit that, then would your precious and overpriced Tamiya treasure go up in smoke without it?
By sheer coincidence, I'd noticed that Tarr smokers- with the metal body -can get quite warm in use. So, for mine- since it's nifty to use double-sided tape to fit them- I used double- sided (silvered) heat resistant tape instead. It's used generally for fitting electric cooking hobs....
Do full-option Tamiya Kits include these puzzling strips?

Never tested it for heat resistance, but both the Tamiya kits that I have , have included a length of double sided tape. It's used for sticking down the electronics.

Thanks, Richard  If I ever get a Tamiya, I won't fret nearly so much now :D
I know Li-Pos can be scary, but I'd hate to end up medium-rare, or well-done (my personal favourite) courtesy of a model tank :lolno:

Its only to stick the electronics together (they come as two separate units) and then to the hull.

The adhesive is very strong.
