The 5 pin vampire plug will work with the tamiya mfu (all be it with a little brute force), ir led will definitely need a new plug sadly.

Really enjoying the build, I do feel your pain on the aber stuff, it is worth it in the end though! Following with interest.

I just wish I could find the best way of fixing the Aber bits so they don't keep coming off. I've tried all sorts of glue but none seems to work for me.

I solder my photo etch and attach threaded rod and bolt items on. Much better than glue. Solder pats I've heard is much easier, I'll have to try it some time.

I did read the post. My search for the Tenax 7R you recommended was without success. I concluded that it was not marketed in the UK. The various plastic cements I have tried have not been effective. I have recently acquired something called PlasticWeld, which I hope will be more like what you mentioned.

Have you tried industrial strength superglue, or superglue gel? You could try Gorilla Superglue, you can get it at B&Q, they do a whole range of glues, one of them might work. I used it on the boat build to good effect when nothing else would work.

There still remains a huge amount of work to do, not least completing the barrel lock, which it so obviously needs. That is somewhat of a challenge as it's one of the German brass ones, and has a lot of small pieces.

After a suitable amount of cursing and dropping bits everywhere, I have managed to complete the barrel clamp.

Still a way to go and whilst I realise it's not up to the standard of EddyK's magnificent build, I'm quite pleased.
