Pot too Switch, (possible ?)

Post by lady.tigger »

Hi,
Working on a idea and need a bit of advise, ie, can I replace the Pot on my TX and put a switch, say a DPDT/DPST etc in the place of the Pot, I am aware that a switch can only be either on/off with no variable in between, unless you use a resister on one of the Throws, think I have that right, or is it Pole, as everybody knows a Pot(generally) has three pins and alters the resistance via movement of the centre contact left/right increasing or decreasing the resistance to pins 1 and 3, but what two contacts do I use to make a on/off situation.
Think maybe 2 and 3 as the resistance is at its lowest at that point ???.
Your views and ideas would be appreciated.

Maybe it depends of the radio you are using. Im no expert but I replaced a pot with a 6 positions switch in my radio.

Using a 9x radio.

Was the original pot a three leg unit, and how did you do that.
