Ashmann, Good afternoon,
That is a Hobby Engine Abrams in 1/16. I had one as have many others on the forums including TankBear ( who has threads out there on how to upgrade almost everything on them ) Enjoy your tank and do a Build on it if you feel like it. ;o)
regards,
Painless

I looked at the hobby engine version, mine looks different, the ones on the page link are different in color and dont have "Sentinel 1" on the side.PainlessWolf wrote:Ashmann, Good afternoon,

Re: Unknown brand M1A2 Abrams
Definitely a Hobby Engine unit. Have had three two early ones without suspensions and a later one with suspension. No mater what they call it is a M1A1 due to the commanders copula. Not a very accurate model when you compare it to HL's M1A2. The sentinel decal is just something they put on it for kids for a splash of color as it is was always meant to be a toy. Can be detailed a bit without spending a fortune but to really get it looking correct you will have to spend more then a HL basic M1A1 will cost you.

Re: Unknown brand M1A2 Abrams
The first two I bought where at a local toys r us (the ones without suspensions) way back in the mid 1990's. back then they called them 1/18th scale although are obviously to big for that. The one with suspension I bought on EBay and converted to HL electronics, early rx 18 MFU and stuck two NiCad stick batteries in it for power and did a lot of detailing but not all out. kept the rubber band tracks.
Ran much better but when HL's M1A2 came out was very happy to retire it and use it as a parts tank.

Re: Unknown brand M1A2 Abrams
Back then they where called 21st century toys. They where very much into making 1/18 scale static tanks and 1/18 military action figures being sold at toys r us back then. Hunt them down on EBay and you will see how expensive they have become as many people use them troop figures to ad detail to their 1/16 scale units and the supply is drying up. Even the ground wheeled vehicles and artillery pieces in 1/18th scale are so much in demand that their prices have become very high compared to what they originally sold for.
The stowage on the HE Abrams can be seen being used on many (my own included) HL Abrams. Not many modern tank 1/16th stowage items are available today.

Well that sucks. I feel like its harder to find stuff for modern tanks than it is to find stuff for WW2 tanks.greengiant wrote:Back then they where called 21st century toys. Re: Unknown brand M1A2 Abrams
I picked one of these up at Toys R Us a few months ago with a coupon and a couple of rewards certificates to bring the price way down. Not Heng Long, really not Tamiya, but not bad for the price.
Yes, WWII stuff is much easier to find than modern. I haven't purchased any yet, but I have found that there are some people offering 3D printed modern 1/16 tank parts and accessories through http://www.shapeways.com/. Some of them even take requests.
