Good morning, Tiggr,
Well within your reach. All you need are some comically large magnifying goggles, a few bending tools and hours of your time to fritter away. ;o)

Painless

Oh Painless,
Do you have the faintest idea what you have done?
Having just seen your tour de force, I have been searching out some spare chain then seeing what the smallest link in my chain collection is to see if it is able to take a 1mm nut and bolt,
I was hoping that I would be unsuccessful but Dammit I do have the right size,
So now because of you YES YOU!!! I shall be putting a dot of debonder on the chain of every pintle on every Tank then doing the business on the pintle with a Pin Vise then a micro saw and then the chain and the nut and bolt.
It has been said before but I shall say it again, You never really finish a build,
I love your build but there are days.
Shaun.

Re: Tamiya Early Tiger 1 Static to RC Build
Good afternoon, Gentlemen,
I'm considering a Loupe for my regular glasses because the contraption I use with the multiple lenses and led light attached makes me feel like a cyborg while modeling with PE.
Apologies, Jarndice, I usually upgrade HL and MATO builds with Tamiya parts. Because Mike's Tiger is a Tamiya, well, you know the drill. ;o)

Painless

Quite how you manage 1mm fittings, and all that impossibly detailed work escapes me...and what on earth is 'solder paint'? I lost two screws merely by coughing; so I your herculean task looks anything other than 'painless'! Yet you do it with such ease and modesty..and, I have to admit to becoming a big fan! Just don't develop a cold or a cough!!

43rdR&R,
Thank you, sir! One of the things I bought was a set of mini springs and tool so I can have spring mounted antennas now. ;o) Solder paint is sold in the UK ( I got the idea from the Forum here ) as Fry-o-lux paint. It is dangerous stuff and rubber gloves are required. Instead of using solder and a gun ( very, very hard to get a clean result on tiny brass parts ), you bend the pieces together, paint on this solder fluid like a glue then apply heat from a hair dryer or small butane torch and it 'solders' the part together very neatly. I am using a thin line of the stuff in a syringe. ( Came packaged that way from over in Asia ).

Painless

Re: Tamiya Early Tiger 1 Static to RC Build
Roy the secret to working with PE (Photo Etch) is a Butane Torch (I use a "Nimrod solderpro-50k") and a pot of Solder paint, (I use "FRYOLUX"),The "FRYOLUX" I get from "MAPLINS", it is very costly but lasts forever, the Butane Torch I got off "AMAZON"
A WARNING Solder Paint is incredibly TOXIC!!! avoid getting it near pets, your partner or your children.
To use it you paint the area that you wish to solder and apply the butane torch,
After a little practice you will be turning out some really smart joins and you will not willingly return to a soldering iron.
I hope that helps,
Sorry Painless for interrupting your thread but some of this is UK only information.
Shaun.

Thanks, Shaun
All very new and very interesting- but now, after this 'intermission'..with the Butterkist, and the 'Lyons Maid lady' and that magical illuminated tray of unaffordable treats.

Re: Tamiya Early Tiger 1 Static to RC Build
The post came in yesterday with goodies from Welsh Dragon. A tip of my hat to Steve for getting stuff here so fast. With these little pieces of art, I can complete Step 18 and move on in the build. I ordered another PE tool to enable me to build the little brass wingnuts in the ABER sheet as well. I want to use those to dress up the mudguards. Pic:
