Taigen Tiger

Post by aikmanmosquito »

Please excuse the prolific posts, but as I've mentioned before I am new to this hobby, and have many many questions, so please bear with me. Purchased an all singing dancing Taigen Tiger from RCTankde. Only opened it up yesterday, needed to buy an adapter for the charger so got that today, so have only been playing with it for the last hour, hence the many questions.
Firstly the tank has the BB firing system, however was advertised as also having a new recoil set up, which doesn't seem to be working, or maybe I'm missing something.
Secondly I had issues with the charger and have contacted Domnique, but to cut a long story short don't think the battery was fully charged.
Managed to play with the tank for a bit, and now when I move it forward the engine noise goes in to shut down and tank cuts out! is this normal practice when battery is running low?
Now again according to everything I've seen advertised these tanks are boasting all metal lower hulls, however I'm pretty sure there is plastic in with the metal, is this the normal build for Taigen tanks? and car you buy rear metal panels etc.
Looking for some good quality figures to add to the tank, where's the best place to buy, also would like to change the side skirts for more realistic separate ones, will any of the Aber upgrade ones fit the Taigen Tiger.

Hi, If an "ABER" or a "VOYAGER" Product is advertised for a Tiger 1 then it WILL fit a Heng Long, Taigen, Torro, or Trumpeter Tiger,
As to fitting side fenders to a Tiger 1,
You can if you want the extra work and expence fit an "ABER" or "Voyager" side fender set,
What I do is Stick a line of DUCK/DUCT Tape NOT Masking Tape down the clearly defined vertical joins of each side fender so that only the join can be seen, then using an "EXACTO" Micro saw I carefully cut down between the fenders along the defined line.
Once the tape is removed you truthfully will not know the difference,
If you want to fit a metal rear panel there are as far as I know 3 suppliers of the item, "Aeromate" "Ludwigs" and "Mato" the first two are very accurate and will fit a Heng Long, Taigen, Torro, or Trumpeter Tiger 1 but are quite expensive and come without any fittings unless you order and pay for them,
The Mato Tiger 1 Metal rear panel comes complete with exhausts, air cleaners, tool box, and jack, all in metal and ready fitted,
BUT the panel was not built for a HENG LONG, TAIGEN, TORRO or TRUMPETER Tiger 1,
it is available from http://www.forgebeartanks.com BUT having done the conversion using a "Mato" metal rear panel you must be prepared for some work to get it to fit, Although it looks great when it is finished and you have the reassurance of knowing that the fixing lugs being metal won't snap unlike the plastic ones.
Shaun.
I think I am about to upset someone :haha:
