Support brackets and things

Post by wibblywobbly »

I actually pinched this idea off someone else so I can't take the credit.

If you are attaching fuel cans and tools to a tank, they look a bit odd suspended in mid-air. What they need is support brackets, and steel straps. I used to look at the guys who make them out of styrene, and then heat them to mould them around objects, but there is an easier way.

Use flat rubber bands. Simply glue them across your jerry can or whatever, then round the sides, and then a flat bit where they would be welded to the hull. Absolutely easy peasy, and when painted they look totally natural. Really easy to cut with a pair scissors, and ready textured too.

Do I get the £1.25 Forum award for suggestion of the week now?

the only problem I could forsee with using the elastic band idea is that normally elastic bands go brittle after time, dunno if paint will help prevent this from happening ir speed it up, another possible solution maybe to use rubber from an old innertube cut to lengths in the same manner and applied in the same manner.
