Hi Stewart,
Nice photos there  . They look like Valentine tanks. The crew named the tank Blenhelm like most crews they gave there tanks names. Brian...

Hallo Stewart. The Tank in the Photographs is a British Vickers MK111/3 Valentine which was an Infantry Tank, it differed primarily from the MK 1 and 11/2 by having a three man turret,
The earlier variants having two men turrets, it was armed with a 2 Pdr Main gun and a 7.92 BESA MG,
The turret being internally very small meant that when the Main Gun was changed with the introduction of the Valentine VIII/8 to a 6 Pdr it had to revert to a two man turret crew,
Interestingly whilst it is widely believed only Soviet Tanks had diesel engines the Valentine had an "AEC 131 BHP" diesel engine Later variants having a "GMC 138 BHP" Diesel engine. I hope that helps.
Shaun.
I think I am about to upset someone :haha:

Great photos. The story goes that the Valentine was the only British tank where the Russians asked for more. Very good runner but, as always undergunned.
