My First Konigstiger - Running in Rough Terrain

Post by Dr Phibes »

Have some better pictures of my first tank build now so thought I'd put some here. I still have a few mods to do (like adding servo recoil and elevation) but otherwise I'm fairly happy with the overall result. With all the upgrades to the hull and gear train it runs very well, turns easily, and climbs inclines with ease, even with the rather weak stock motors. Presently has stock 380 motors on 4:1 gearboxes, Clark TK24, Tarr Mk1 smoker with voltage stepper (did have mk2 til I fried it), 5000mah NiMh battery which seems to last quite some time.

I put it through some rough patches and you can see on the forth picture down I nearly lost my jack as it had broken away from its brackets, I also busted a clamp on one of the tow cables but, otherwise, it was all good, as they say.

Doctor,
Looks great, runs better I bet! Your experience with PE on a tank doing rough running is about par for the course. Yours came through quite well. ;o) The bucket was safe! *chuckles*

Painless

Nice looking KT. Good job on the Zim and the strikes on the front plate.

Thanks everyone, it's certainly been an experience and learning curve - a great deal of which has come from these forums I should add. Now on to my next tank project (M36) and already thinking about a third!! :D
