This is my long awaited Edward Scwimmwagen conversion I got this kit as soon as it came out around years ago detail in the kit is very good and up to today there have only ever been two kits available in 1/16/120mm one was low detail and made of resin and this Edward kit both where static, the kit comes with etched parts the fit and placement of some parts is not the best and require reshaping and a fair ammount of work to fit correctly for this conversion I also bought when they where available the Tamiya RC lower hull gearbox and wheels these have gathered dust for a few years until now, this build wont be done any time soon it will be a slow build as I don't have much spare time.
The Build
First I started on the front end I cut part of the Kubel chassis with the steering then spent a few evenings aligning this part and cutting the Schwim hull (Pictures of the front latter) the next stage was the rear end trying to fit the Kubel gear box was not easy and the end result I have it sitting around 1mm to high in full scale that would make the Schwimm look as though it was jacked up at the rear but getting the back end i place without anything to go from took me a week to date you are looking at about 2 weeks worth of build and it doesn't look like I have done much, now I have the rear in place I will concentrate on the front and a new steering method the Tamiya RC Kubel was crude it had full power forwards and reverse and full steering only as in none proportional, now I have to get my mate in England to get me some small servos to sort the steering once that is done I will post again.

Schwimmwagen RC Build
They shall not grow old as we who are left grow old.
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning,
WE WILL REMEMBER THEM

Re: Schwimmwagen RC Build
Thanks for the response guys once I have all the running gear sorted and the batteries in place the rest will fall together in a day.
I'm not going to try and make it swim I think the weight will be greater than the mass so it will sink apart from that it will be very hard to waterproof the Schwimm in this scale I have a 1/6 Schwimm kit to RC and I think that that would be very difficult to swim

Hi Rivet,
Here's a few links from PK to give you a few ideas....
http://www.rc-panzerketten-forum.com/wbb2/thread.php?threadid=3625&threadview=0&hilight=eduard+schwimmwagen&hilightuser=0&page=1
This one is 4WD, amphibious (watch the videos!) and has a remotely deployable propeller!!!
http://www.rc-panzerketten-forum.com/wbb2/thread.php?threadid=11473&threadview=0&hilight=eduard+schwimmwagen&hilightuser=0&page=2
I too have an Eduard Schwimmi that's been there for 2-3 years waiting for a free window of several months (or another summer like the last two...)
