Decided to paint it...Part 2

Post by mitchell »

The Stug 3 build. It seems like i had been waiting a vast period of time for the last few parts to arrive. The build started off again with a Taigen Panzer 3 metal tub hull. I dont think you can go wrong with these, their practically bulletproof. Into that went a pair of low profile black steel 5:1's. The taigen metal sprockets and tracks for these mesh together beautifully, even bought individually, I wonder why they cant do that for the Panther. Control is via an IBU2.

Mato upper hull arrives

Grey Tetrosyl primer + desert acrylic mix

Still lots to do but its coming together

Havent permanently fixed the frontal armour plate yet, blue tac might still be visible

Done the paint job on this in record time. There's a few area's still needing work before i can start thinking about the clear coat

Thanks bud ^^^

I've removed the rear stowage box and a few other tools to enable easier close up work.

I wish Mato would stop gluing in the tools and boxes. It makes removal without damage difficult. I've been using acetone (nailpolish remover) to soften the glue, with a little success

That's all come together beautifully, it complements your Panzer III perfectly. How are you finding the 5:1 gearboxes?

Thank you buddy, I deliberately used the same paints and washes and tried to use the same techniques as the Panzer 3. I like how the 2 look together.

The 5:1's are actually solid little units, their powered by a pair of broken in Graupner 400's. There's so little play in the gearboxes that they are almost as quiet as the brass ones in the Panzer 3. I like that setup, plenty of torque without being hyper fast
